Field placement:
is a mandatory work experience component of a program. The student receives academic credit and the work terms are usually unpaid. Field placement positions must be related to the student's area of study and are approved and monitored by program faculty. Field placements vary in length depending on program requirements.
Internship:
is an optional work experience program in which the student may be hired for 4, 12 or 16 months prior to his or her final year of study. The student competes for the positions much the same as in a regular job competition. Internship positions must be related to the student's area of study. The student is paid for their work during an internship. Once the internship is completed, the student returns to the college to complete his or her program of study. The internship is also noted on the student's official academic transcript. The internship program is organized by Career & Employment Services.
