Fare for Student taking Railway in Southwest UK

My daughter will soon go to studying in UK. Her school is in Sherborne, Dorset while her home-stay is in Southhampton. I would like to know how much the railway fare is for a student travelling from Sherborne to Southhampton.

Is there any discount for student? How can she get this discount?

Thank you

A typical journey from Sherborne to Southampton. It may be a long journey and requires changes at Salisbury station. Sometime, she may be better off to book a taxi (white cab)if she travels with a friend.

Station Arr Dep Travel by Service Provider
SHERBORNE 15:26 Train SOUTH WEST TRAINS
SALISBURY 16:15 16:30 Train FIRST GREAT WESTERN
SOUTHAMPTON CENTRAL 17:01

With Young person rail card:

She can apply for young person rail card via http://www.youngpersons-railcard.co.uk/

ref: If you're aged between 16 and 25 (or a mature student), you can buy a Young Persons Railcard for just £20. It'll save you 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain for a whole year.

There is a fee for the card but you will be better off after a few trips on the train.

Remember to bring a photo at the train station when apply for the card.
