If the object is one inch tall and it display on you screen is exactly one inch tall, then it is 1 : 1 mode.Aspect ratio is the ratio of screen (width : height). Normal TV screen aspect ratio is 4: 3. Wide screen TV is 16 : 9. Same calculation method on a computer monitor / LCD screen.
