Don't buy them, have them custom-made for you.
There are a few good tie-makes from Naples (Marinella, Matuozzo, or even Kiton), London (Turnbull & Asser), or Paris (Charvet), but these makers are quite expensive (from 110 Euros at Marinella to almost 200 Euros at Charvet). I can recommend an American tie maker whom I think is equally good - and they take orders online. Sam Hober (http://www.samhober.com/index.htm), a company in Colorado, will take your measurements (width and length) and your choice of fabrics (a lot) to make a tie of your wish - all for as little as US$75.
I have used all the tie-makers I mentioned above. If money is of no object, I would recommend Marinella or Kiton (whom I have used for over 60 ties). All my ties are traditional 7-folds. Kiton uses Italian silk and Marinella English silk, while Sam Hober uses silk from Thailand, I think. Trust me, after having ties custom-made for you, you will never shop for ties again!
