No, all you need is a a print out chart of chords, a pick, a guitar, and patience. You may want lessons (from a friend/relative) only to help with posture, etc. but online lessons work just as well. (That's how I learned how to play guitar!)
i read ur question and im answering it now. :p
no, it is not necessary to learn 2 play the guitar from some pro. my idol is :::: AVRIL LAVIGNE ::::!!!! and she taught herself 2 play the guitar @ age 12, at that age she also toured around the world preforming in front of MILLIONS of fans!!!!

With all respect, Jesus is the Son of God. He is the Words of God made flesh thru the Holy Spirit moving on Mary as was told to her by the angel Gabriel. He is the sacrifice, the only fitting sacrifice for the sins of mankind, allowing man to re-establish the connection with Almighty God. As Jesus said, No man comes to the Father except by Me. I am the Way the Truth and the Life. Jesus Christ could have refused but He did not. He laid down His life for all and Glory to God, He took it up again by rising from the dead. Jesus is Lord.
Yes. Every professional musician learned from other professional musicians. You must do that also if you want to play professionally.
It is good if you have "basic" keyboard knowledge.
All professional musicians learn basic keyboard proficiency. There are reasons for that.
One reason is that learning the keyboard makes it so easy to understand music.
Anything you really know about music will translate easily from keyboard to guitar; that is ...anything you REALLY know.
So... what do you REALLY know?
Can you play major, minor and dominant arpeggios in any key? Can you instantly spell chords of every type? Can you read music? Do you understand principles of efficient technique? Do you understand diatonic harmony? Do you even know what "diatonic" means?
Those are some basic things that translate to all other instruments, including guitar. If you truly know all that; great! If not, you are fooling yourself.
It takes a lot of time and effort to be a musician. It takes less time if you get professional help.
Best Wishes and Good Luck!
P.S. If you want to be a professional at anything, you should learn to spell “professional.”
