Mary said the cake had been baked.
因為simple past tense要轉past perfect tense.
Mary said the cakes had been baked.
因為verb 'to be' 既past participle 係been 無論係was 定were

加that既情況..
其實statement既情況下..咩都加得
但係explained...added..complained..etc.
或told (someone) Mary
呢D情況加左that會formal D.
