Which sentence is correct in 1a & 1b, 2a &2b?
If both are correct, what is the difference?
1a. He put some bread on the table.
1b. He puts some bread on the table.
2a. He spread some butter on the bread.
2b. He spreads some butter on the bread.

我唔同樓上兩位，因為我唔知有邊句唔妥。記唔記得不規則動詞表有 put 同 spread 呢兩個字？佢地o既現在式、過去式同過去分詞分別係：
put - put - put
spread - spread - spread
串法相同，分別只在於讀音。
所以兩句o既 a 如果係現在式就錯哂；但如果係過去式就有問題。而 b o既兩句當然係現在式啦。

yes, agree with cinyuki09, when its positive, but if it's negative, you don't add "s" after verb.
