Michelle Wie is disrespectful and has no class?

Greg L is absolutely right. Annika has no right to make these comments. If Wie is being a bad sport, the media and the public will call her out on it. There's no justification for Annika to publicly repirmand her. It just makes Annika look bitter that Wie is getting more attention for a lot less performance than Annika. Who is really being disrespectful and showing low class here?

Oh and goat, while his answer was stupid, was talking about Annika not being number 1 anymore.... But goat, Annika was the host of the tournament last week that Wie quit... so Annika besides her statue in the game has that as another reason to call Wie disrepectful and classless. Which she is.

I would have to agree with Annika as I am sure at least 80% of those who watch golf do. Michelle Wie has become a circus freak show wherever she shows up. All we need is the bearded fat woman and the man with the small head and we're set. Michelle Wie doesn't appear to respect anyone or anything. Especially the game of golf.

It was Annika's tournament, and she is the one who gave Wie the sponsorship exemption. When given an exemption you owe the sponsor an "honest" effort. Wie has pulled out of prior events under suspicious circumstances and offered dubious reasons for doing so. She has also been caught with "ill regularities" (cheating) in the men's event and has had run-ins with various players. I think this comment was on the lips of the LPGA, its player's, and the golfing world. It was a long time coming, and Annika was the one to make it.

Now on behalf of Wie, she is still a minor and has had huge pressure on her expectations. She probably pulled out of the tournament on her managers advice before shooting a 90 and therefore disqualifying her for exemptions for the rest of the year. But still, enough is enough and Annika was right to make this comment.

It does seem a little odd and wrong that she would drop out of a tourney with only two holes left in her first round. Don't you think if your wrist was hurting you would withdrawl earlier? I mean she only have two holes left, I bet in the back of her mind she was thinking of the 88 rule. I think it is a classless act and she needs to tell the truth. I also find it amazing that in a few short days her wrist is better and she is going to play again.

She needs to get off the LPGA tour and go play against people her own age. Learn to win and play with class and then maybe you will earn some respect. I won't even get started on her dad, that is for a different question.

Yes. I pretty much think Wie dropped out of that tournament to avoid the 88 rule on the LPGA. If you shoot an 88 no more exemptions for the rest of the year. Wie has not qualified to play on the LPGA and is not a member. She plays on sponsor exemptions.

That's why they need to stop forcing these kids into an adult game, let them grow up first. She is a kid and doesn't understand that along with her gift will come some great responsibility, Tiger learned that early on thanks to his parents, but I think Annika was right for calling her on it.

Did anyone notice that during the press conference questioning, Wie mentioned that her "left" hand got injured, but she had her "right" hand wrapped while I was watching the recaps of the last few holes she played

Yes! It should not have taken Annika calling her out for us to realize that Wie is disrespect and has no class.

Wie has awful etiquette. In her short career, how many rules violations and withdrawals has she accumulated? How many playing partners have complained about her walking on their putting line, getting advice from daddy, taking improper drops from unplayable lies? Too many!
