Yes if it's medically necessary. They don't do the cosmetic surgeries anymore.

Actually there are some military hospitals that need to do cosmetic surgery so that the plastic surgeons can keep in practice (usually at larger hospitals). I heard about this from corpsmen in the Navy and from health specialists in different military branches. I would ask around if you are interested and maybe call the liaison for Tri-Care at the closest military hospital.

I am actually getting a breast reduction within the year, but that is because it is medically necessary. there has to be something wrong with you in order to get it. my son is also getting cosmetic surgery on his hand.

I had a tummy tuck, but you have to show medical need. Mine was a result of gaining a lot of weight while pregnant 3 times and then losing all the weight. Unfortunately my skin wasn't so forgiving and my doctor saw a medical need to have it fixed. It really depends on your doctor.

cosmetic surgery is done strictly on a space available basis. this includes breast augmentation and tummy tucks. procedures deemed medically necessary are covered.

The waiting list for elective surgeries can be years long, as not every Base hospital offers it and not every hospital that does offer it has space avaialble. priority goes to reconstructive surgeries on wounded warriors and medically necessary procedures.

Actually, depending on the facility, they ARE doing some surgeries at a reduced rate or free. And they're elective/cosmetic as well. There is a HUGE waiting list---usually several months long.

Think of it this way: surgeries on civilians or spouses are good practice for them. Keeps skills sharp or an opportunity to enhance them. Makes sure that our Soldiers/Sailors/Airmen/Marines are well cared for by having the best. Our troops aren't just sewn up and sent back out on the streets---many need cosmetic and/or reconstructive surgery. Who does that? ;)

Soldier/Troops come first----then the dependants when it comes to this kind of surgery.

Yes, I had a breast reduction done. However the miltary hospital near us was full with other surgeries, so I was authorized by Tricare to go to a civilain doctor. All was paid for by Tricare.

Depends.

If it's only for cosmetic purposes - no.

Strange thing is - we paid about $20 for my stay in the military hospital when we had a child there. But my surgeries at a civilian hospital were completely free.

Not for regular beauty cosmetic surgery.

You'll have to pay for your meals. The treatment is free.

No type of cosmetic surgery unless it's medically necessary.
