some of the alga doesn't only have chlorophyll, they appear green just because they mainly have chlorophyll.
some of the alga have other type of photosynthetic pigment, some may appear brown.

the dominant photosynthetic pigment may affected by the habitat of the organism,for example, the alga that live on sallow water are green, those live in deep water may be brown. it is because the colour of light that penetrate into different depth of water is different , hence the photosynthetic pigment of plant is different so that the can absorb as much light as it can
