In 1894, Pierre de Coubertin decided to launch an international sports conference in Paris and invited the sports committee of other nations.

In 1894, twelve countries’ representatives participated in the first session in Paris discussing revival of the Olympic Games.

On 23rd of June, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was founded. Demetrius Vikelas who was a Greek was elected to be the first President. IOC had designed the Olympic symbols, flag and set up the terms and regulations.

In 1896, the Games of the I Olympiad was held in Athens . Olympic Games is being held for every four years, and the time of the duration will not exceed 16 days.

In 1900, women made their first appearance in the modern Games. IOC expressed their support of the participation of women athlete.
