1) It depends on your flight is the departing flight or the returning flight.
a) If it is the departing flight (leave from hometown), and you are the only tour escort of the group, you should not allow half of the group to get on the original flight first, as you have to guarantee all passengers get on flight safe and escort them on the flight. You will need to bargain with airline company with compensation and try to look for any other flight which can be swapped in the shortest time.
b) If it is the returning flight, you are allowed to let half of the group (who need to catch for work or somthing that they have to be back by the next day) to get on flight first, but it is also not recommended since the remaining group will get mad about this. Always use the most power to bargain with airline company for compensation (hotel,meal couopn, cash...etc) Since overbooked situation is not in the insurance coverage.
