Question:
A force of 6 N is applied to a helical spring and it extends by 12 cm. If two identical springs are hung in parallel and attached a load of 3 N on them. Find the resulting extension of the system?

The system means total extension of 2 spring or 1 spring which has the same extends with the others? Shall the mass of the spring be negligible? If the spring has / no a certain mass, more springs more extension when the same force attached?

A force of 6 N is applied to a helical spring and it extends by 12 cm. If two identical springs are hung in parallel and attached a load of 3 N on them. Find the resulting extension of the system?
F = kx
6 = k(12)
k = 0.5N/cm
Two identical springs are hung in parallel,the force constant K = 2k
F = 2Kx
3 = 2*0.5x
x = 3cm
