My dog won't stop eating horse poop! HELP!?

if she does it every time you keep going out there... why do you keep taking her out there and allowing her to do it?

either keep her at home, or put her on a short leash so you can pull her away from it and say NO. If you are consistent, she should be trained out of it in a few weeks.

Get the dog a muzzle so it can't eat the poop or spend some serious time training the dog to stay away from horse poop. The Dog Whisperer has some good books.

well what i would do is go to the vet and get some cream called " yuck" and when ever you see her eating the poop put a little bit on your finger and rub it on the roof of her mouth so soon she will put 2 and 2 together and she will not eat it any more.

if i remember the term correctly, veterinarians call this behavior "pica" and pica just means eating something that really isn't what you and i would consider food or nourishment.

honestly, i wouldn't worry about it. it may gross you out a little bit, but it won't hurt the dog any. when my dogs do it, i just pretend not to notice and make sure they don't lick my face right after eating the manure!

does she go to the bathroom when you're gone because she's mad or upset with you for leaving? that issue may have nothing at all to do with her eating manure.

my dog eats his poop, so I think he needs more to eat. I feed my dog some extra food whenI feed him.

when you see her do these things,punish her by patting her butt and tell her not to do it,this is what i do 2 my dog i say"Oi ,No bad Lucky!" or hold the dogs face with your both hands on the upper and lower jaw and tell her not to do it again.cos if you don't tell her off,she will think that she is doing the right thing.

I was quite amused to see your question. I have a whole pack of dogs (9) and 10 horses. Guess what?.... They ALL eat the horse turds, but apparently remain in good health so I don't really worry about it even though it is quite repulsive - especially when they jump up and try to lick you afterwards. As or stopping the dog doing it's business indoors, I think that's merely a matter of training it otherwise. Good luck.
