The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

Manufacturers need to understand the requirements of the RoHS Directive to ensure that their products, and their components, comply.

RoHS 符合性测试

RoHS 符合性测试是会针对产品每一个部分的同质材料进行详细精确的测试。样品将被拆解为同质材料，并经 XRF 扫描来确定其镉、铅、汞、铬和溴的含量，其中不符合的部件将被重新用酸消解，并按照 ICP-AES/GC-MS 及 UV/VIS 要求经萃取法进行进一步确认。

RoHS 鉴证测试

RoHS 监证测试是一种快速而经济的方法来判断产品在运送前是否含有六种有害物质。样品会分拆成碎件，低风险的零部件会进行 XRF 物料扫描；高风险的零部件会进行个别化学测试分辨不符合的部分。

RoHS 成分测试（湿化学测试）

通过湿化学方法进行的 RoHS 测试，确保原材料，组件，部件，组件和成品符合 RoHS 要求，其测试方法是根据 IEC 62321 CD 标准详细精确地进行。测试样品中的铅、汞、六价铬、多溴联苯和多溴联苯醚量应低于 0.1% , 镉的含量应低于 0.01%。
