Technically speaking, a cheque should be honoured by the bank if the date of the cheque is within 6 months.

As the company has ceased its business, any cheques issued must be related to settlement of its debts as at the date of cessation. Otherwise, the Inland Revenue Department may still think the business has not been ceased.

It is recommendable that the bank account should be cancelled as soon as possible after the debts have been paid and the receivables have been received.
