advice for prom wear?

Yah, a little confused on what to wear. 2 weeks from now. I was thinking of just ditching the suits and tie and the whole nine yard. Tuxedo, nah, not my style. i was thinking of pushing it to the casual as possible. I was thinking black pants, black long sleve from club monaco, lime green tie and a lime green belt and no suit at all. WOuld i look like an idiot since that is barely formal, or even considered semi formal. I heard all my friends are wearing suits since its prom. Cant decide. oh and, let say if i do go with the black pants and long sleve black shirt, should i tuck in my shirt or not? lol, this sounds so pointless, but please give me tips and inputs. thx

You should wear something nice that would impress the girl you are going with and try to have something that matches the girl color of clothing or go with the girl you are going with and pick cloths together. If you have any questions just e-mail me ok.

well, even though its not your style, it is prom and you'd probably look really nice in a tux. However if you do want to be original, then wear what YOU want. ...Do you have a date? If so, you definetly need to coordinate with her.

As the 2007 the prom fever is at its height girls are busy choosing their exquisite trendsetting formal dress. Every girl ensures that she has the correct information on the current trend. The question that still remains unanswered is that what one should wear that goes well with the present trend because you don’t want to land up in your most awaited prom night with a dress that is no less than a uniform. Therefore try and get something that defines your individuality whether it is the fashion trend in formal dresses or plus size prom dresses. However at the same time cheaper prom dress alternative are also available for economical classes.

umm for prom you need to at least wear a suit, your date might get offended and think that she wasnt worth renting/buying one. but if money is the issue then you can find cheap suit jackets at like the thrift store. do it for her, plus you will look really good and wont be the only one not decked out.

Hey Brian,

Check your prom's dress code and see if tie/jacket is required for entry. At my prom, my good friend tried to do the no tie, open collar, messy hair and glasses thing that was very hip then, but wasn't let in until he got a tie---luckily he lived right down the street and just wore it in and took it right off.

If there is no dress code then I think the non-traditional option to men's promwear is tres chic. If you watch the Oscars they mostly talk about the guys that do the non-black/white/bowtie combo.

If you must do a jacket/tie combo. You should do a Johnny Depp a la the movie Blow. That white outfit and aviators was hawt. Or maybe a non-traditional jacket with tails? I know it might sound lame but done with the right accessories and the right person, I think that would be quite unique and win everyone over.

What shoes would you wear with your blank outift? That's definetly something you should consider. Too much black to wear black shoes? Maybe, maybe. Tuck in the shirt---in my head it looks better. I would accessorize with a nice silver watch, and very fashionable silver or black rimmed glasses.

Also, do you have a date? What color is she wearing? Are you coordinating? Even if you are not, get her some non-traditional flowers that is full of lime/green.

[try orchids, they're pretty and very much a winner with the ladies.]

Go with the suit, but dress it up (or down really) with your own style. For our wedding my husband wore a suit, but with chuck taylors and a regular white shirt under. He still looked good, but wasn't all dressy. There are so many different styles of suits, I am sure you could find something to fit your style better.
Otherwise you are free to wear whatever you want, as long as it's somewhat nice looking and put together.

Please do not use any green belt or tie. Check out the web on what people are wearing. Please do not do the green combo.

This is your prom, you do not want to answer that question "what where you thinking".

It really depends on the location. If it is just a the school then it would probably be OK. But if it is at a nice location you might want to be a little more formal. Are there rules on formal or semi-formal attire. If it is just semi-formal attire require it would most likely be OK.
