There is a square with each side 12cm. If the length is increased by x cm ,the width is decreased by x cm. the length will be twice of the width. Find the area of the new rectangle.

first need to find out the value of x,
(12+x)=2(12-x)
12+x=24-2x
x=4
therefore, the new square, length=12+4=16, width=12-4=8
area=16*8=128

i don't know is it correct or not,
i just try

the width:
(12+x)÷(12-x)=2
the length:
2×width
the area:
length×width

new length = (12+x)cm
new width = (12-x) cm
since length will be twice of the width
12+x = 2 ( 12 - x)
x = 4
area of the new rectangle = (12+4) X ( 12 - 4)
           = 128 cm square
