Muddy water? obviously not, as it contains many contaminants (perhaps harmful chemical compounds/industrial waste), microorganisms...etc. These toxic contaminants or microorganisms may cause waterborne diseases, such as Cholera.
Drinking salt water (which is salt dissolved in water) is not harmful. However, you shouldn't drink in large quantities, especially if the salt concentration is high in your salt water solution. Continuously consuming high concentration of salt is not good for your kidneys and may lead to dehydration. Your kidneys will try to expel the excess salt through urine, along with water from your body.
