WISH you WERE there..WISH = 系指一啲希望, 應該唔可能發生. 同HOPE的分別系, HOPE系有可能發生.WERE = 過去式, 指已經系過去左. 或 WISH之後系用過去分詞的.無論系點, 都系希望你當時在場. 但可惜你當時不在埸.

注: 這是過去式的客氣說話.

按字面解是「希望你當時(已過去)在場」，但如此直譯會令意義變得含糊甚至不倫不類（對於已成過去的事又怎能希望？），所以應翻譯為「可惜你當時不在場」。
