Wetlands include a lot of inland areas, river banks and marine habitats which have similar charcteristics, mostly junctions between water and dry land. Animals and plants adapted to such environments flourish. On the ebb the water is no deeper than 6m. Natural wetlands include lakes, rivers, swamps, mangroves and reed; reservoirs, fish ponds and rice fields are artificial wetlands.
