Transaction Processing System
A Transaction Processing System (TPS) is a type of information system. TPSs collect, store, modify, and retrieve the transactions of an organization.
Features of Transaction Processing Systems
Rapid Response
Fast performance with a rapid response time is critical.
Reliability
Many organisations rely heavily on their TPS; a breakdown will disrupt operations or even stop the business. For a TPS to be effective its failure rate must be very low.
Inflexibility
A TPS wants every transaction to be processed in the same way regardless of the user, the customer or the time for day. If a TPS were flexible, there would be too many opportunities for non-standard operations.
Controlled processing
The processing in a TPS must support an organisation's operations.
Management Information Systems
Management Information Systems (MIS) is a general name for the academic discipline covering the application of people, technologies, and procedures — collectively called the information system — to solve business problems. MIS are distinct from regular information systems in that they are used to analyse other information systems applied in operational activities in the organisation.[1] Academically, the term is commonly used to refer to the group of information management methods tied to the automation or support of human decision making, e.g. Decision Support Systems, Expert systems, and Executive information systems.[

Investing in management information systems dedicated to management can pay off for a company in many ways

Core competency support.
Enhanced distribution channel management.
Increased brand equity.
Boost production processes. Information systems allow a company flexibility in its output level.
Leverage learning curve advantages.
Impact mass customization production processes.
Leverage IT investment in computer aided design.
Expand E-commerce.
Leverage stability.
Improve B2B commerce.

Decision support systems
Decision support systems are a class of computer-based information systems including knowledge based systems that support decision making activities.

As mentioned above, there are theoretical possibilities of building such systems in any knowledge domain.
DSS is extensively used in business and management. Executive dashboards and other business performance software allow faster decision making, identification of negative trends, and better allocation of business resources.
A growing area of DSS application, concepts, principles, and techniques is in agricultural production, marketing for sustainable development. For example, the DSSAT4 package[2][3], developed through financial support of USAID during the 80's and 90's, has allowed rapid assessment of several agricultural production systems around the world to facilitate decision-making at the farm and policy levels.
DSS has many applications that have already been spoken about. However, it can be used in any field where organization is necessary. Additionally, a DSS can be designed to help make decisions on the stock market, or deciding which area or segment to market a product toward.
