This is your chance to experience the unique fusion of ancient customs and modern fun in one of the world's biggest Chinese New Year celebrations. You'll be captivated by fragrant flower markets and thrilled by a spectacular night parade, exciting fireworks, fast-paced sporting events and much, much more.

The celebrations run from 12 to 21 February, so come discover all that Hong Kong has to offer during Chinese New Year! Once you live it, you'll love it!

Flower markets are an indispensable part of Chinese New Year celebrations. Families head off to the markets in search of auspicious plants and blooms to bring good luck to their homes or offices during the coming year. Kumquat trees, narcissus and peonies bring prosperity, peach blossoms add fire to romance, while tangerine plants with leaves intact help ensure long-lasting relationships and "fruitful" marriages. So, mingle with the huge, happy crowds and enliven your senses for the Year of the Pig!

Selected by the Lonely Planet Bluelist 2007 as one of the world's most fascinating attractions and celebrations, this year's event following the theme of "Celebrate. World Party. Hong Kong." is sure to be one of the most stunning parades you'll ever see! This night-time spectacle showcases a combination of international and Chinese elements featuring illuminated floats, dragon and lion dancers, clowns, marching bands, an all-star cast of performers from around the world, and much, much more.

You'll be mesmerised by the amazing display of computer-controlled fireworks that usher in the Year of the Pig. Join the hundreds of thousands of people who line both sides of the harbour as their waahs, oohs and aahs rise in a crescendo of delight at this magnificent spectacle. Head for the harbour, join a harbour cruise or watch the spectacle from a harbour-view restaurant or hotel. No matter where you are, you'll be cheering as the fireworks create intricate patterns across the sky. This spectacular event - symbolising the desire for a brighter future - is surely not to be missed!

Chinese New Year is a time to give thanks for the past 12 months and pray for good fortune in the coming year. Join the huge crowds as they make a pilgrimage to Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple. Here the soothsayers in the adjacent arcade will predict your future. Spin the Wheel of Fortune at Sha Tin's Che Kung Temple to dispel bad luck and encourage good fortune. Or visit the fabled Wishing Trees in Lam Tsuen and make a wish!
