Given that citric acid is a tribasic acid , write a chemical equation for the complete neutralization of citric acid by sodium hydroxide solution.

citric acid is tribasic acid..
so u should know wt is tribasic acid first.
tribasic acid is an acid which can donate 3 H+(or proton) readily to form acidic solution.

so,if the question asks write a chemical equation,thats mean u can write either ionic equation or full equation.

so,if u dont know what is the formula of citric acid,then u should write ionic equation instead of full equation

for neutralization,
3H+ + 3OH- => 3H2O
to simplify
H+ + OH- =>H2O

P.S.
actually i am not very sure in this question.
because citric acid is tribasic..
1 citric acid can react with 3 NaOH to give 3 water.
but in AL,i dont think we need to memorize the formula of citric acid,not to say CE.
so i think the formula above-mentioned is already suitable for u.(that ionic equation)
