When a leaf uses up the carbon dioxide in a test-tube for photosynthesis, will the carbon dioxide never be used up as it will be given out by the leaf when it carries out respiration only ?

Leaf will do photosynthesis and respiration at same time.
The point is whether the rate of photosynthesis higher than the rate of respiration.
If the rate of photosynthesis is higher than the rate of respiration,
there will be a net release of oxygen.
If the rate of respiration is higher than the rate of photosynthesis,
there will be a net release of carbon dioxide.
