Beta-blocker is the drug that block the beta-adrenoceptor which is one of the receptors influence by the sympathetic nervous system and by adrenaline. By blocking this it can be used to treat a variety of diseases but mostly use in treatment of hypertension. By blocking beta-adrenoceptor, the heart rate will be decreased. This will decrease the cardiac output and hence the blood pressure.
