Questions about AVG Free Edition

The AVG Free Edition did not run and had the below errors:

1. Anti-virus: Internal Virus Database is out-of-date
(I chose UPDATE but it did not load)

2. Resident Shield: Resident Shield is not loaded

Can anyone tell me how the solve the above problems?
