This resulted in 191 submissions from 128 separate local authorities of which 115 proposals have been invited to develop action plans to take a share of £5.5 million funding allocated by English Heritage furing 1995/96.Approximately half of the submissions were to convert existing 'town schemes' to CAPs while the remainder were for entirely new areas or areas which had not previously attracted a joint funding scheme between the local authority and English Heritage(Johnson,1994b).
