1)Yummy Barkey offers a discount for egg rolls and cookies. A box of egg rolls is sold at $40 after discount and a box of cookies is sold at 20% off. If 6 boxes of egg rolls and 10 boxes of cookies cost $720 now, what is the marked price of a box of cookies?

2)Mr. Lee spend 3/10 of his mounthly salary on the repayment of the mortgage loan for his apartment, 3/5 on necessities and entertainment, and saves the rest. If he can save $2000 each mouth, what is Mr. Jee's monuthly salary?

1)
Let x be the marked price of a box of cookies,

40(6) + x(100%-20%)(10) = 720
240 + 8x = 720
8x = 480
x = 60
the marked price of a box of cookies is $60.

2)
Let x be Mr. Jee's monuthly salary,
3/10(x) + 3/5(x) + 2000 = x
2000 = x - 3/10(x) - 3/5(x)
2000 = 10x/10 - 3x/10 - 6x/10
2000 = x/10
2000(10) = x
x = 20000
Mr. Jee's monuthly salary is $20000.

In fact that is just primary school Maths. If you are a Form 1 student, you should be able to do it with ease. So, for the steps and formula, please make it by yourself. My answer is just for checking.
