1. let the two numbers be 2x+1, 2x+3
(2x+3)/3+2x+1<=10
2x+3+6x+3<=30
8x<=24
x<=3
Thus, the greatest of the smaller number = 2*3+1 = 7

2. x+5=y, x+y<49
2x+5<49
2x<44
x<22
Thus, the largest value of x is 21

睇錯...x is greater than y by5, 即y 5=x2. 2x-5

y加5=xthe largest value of x is 26

Q1 Answer:
Let x be the smaller number and x+2 be the larger number

x + 1/3 *(x+2) <= 10
(4/3)*x + 2/3 <= 10
(4/3)*x <= 28/3
x<= 7

then the largest value for x is 7

Q2 Answer:

Solve the below two equations -----
x-y = 5 ..............................(1)
and x+y <49 ........................(2)

From (1), y = x-5
sub into (2),
x+(x-5) < 49
2x-5<49
2x<54
x<27
then the largest value for x is 26 as 26<27 and is an integer
