How do British Airways and Virgin Atlantic compare for long haul flights?

Specifics: Economy class, on transcontinental flights such as London to China or London to US.

How do BA and Virgin compare with regards to comfort, price, reliability, punctuality, passenger-friendly policies, etc.?

Virgin's prices seem to be quite a bit higher than BA's, but is it really worth the higher price?

Thanks ^^

I've flown both in economy and First.

Definately BA if you fly economy. Seats are more comfortable and service is way better. VS was a killer on an 8 hour flight, especially for my husband, he's pretty tall.

Service is better on BA by long way in both economy and especially First. I agree, they don't have a beautician or a bar in BA but who the hell needs it on a plane? Remember - you are paying for it even if you don't use it, that's why VS economy is more expensive.

Virgin's higher prices make up for the incredible business class they have, coach is damn near the same... Virgin just doesnt want to make the biz class fares seem unreasonable so they pass some of the cost on to you in coach... fly with BA if in coach... Virgin if in biz.
