1) Peter has $72 and Mary has $12 . How much money must Peter give to Mary,so that Mary will have 3 times as much as Peter?

2) The price of an apple increases by $0.25 .Now it costs $4 dollars more to buy 32 apples than to buy 26 apples before the increase .Find the original price of an apple.

1)
let $x be the amount of money Peter must give to Mary
3(72 - x) = (12 + x)
216 - 3x = 12 +x
204 = 4x
x = 51
so, Peter give $51 to Mary,so that Mary will have 3 times as much as Peter

2)
let $x be the original price of an apple
32(x+0.25) - 26x = 4
32x + 8 -26x = 4
6x = -4
x = ?
