( little 有否定意味, a little 則是肯定的 --------- 和不可數名詞連用. a little 是「有些」,和 little 不同. He has a little money 等於 He has some money )

little = not much 很少的, 幾乎沒有的
eg He has little money. 他沒有多少錢 (幾乎沒有錢).
eg He gained little advantage from the scheme. 他從這計畫中沒有獲得甚麼利益
eg I have little time for reading. 我沒有甚麼時間閱讀.
eg He knows little Latin. 他對拉丁文懂得很少.

a little – some but not much, a small quantity of 少許的, 少量的
eg He knows a little French. 他懂得一點法文.
eg A little care would have prevented the accident. 稍微注意一點此一意外就不會發生了.

the little 特指僅有的一些
eg. The little of his work that I have seen seems excellent. 我所看到的他僅有的一點工作似乎做得非常好.

few = not many 不多, 很少
