bcuz communism is bad and china fronts as a capatilist country but are really communists dreaming and manipulating money ...south korea is different from north korea as they are not communists or terrorists ...so the uS supported them to combat communism.

Part of the policy of containment which was to keep Communism within its current boundaries. The civil war in China between the nationalists and the communists was a test to this policy in Asia. the US supported Chiang Kaishek (spelling?) because he was against the communists. Unfortunately, he was completey corrupt and as totalitarian as many communist rulers seemed to be. The US stopped giving him support because he was wasting the aid we gave him. Eventually the communists won the civil war and took over mainland china. Chiang had to flee to Taiwan and set up a government there which he said, and the US acknowledged, was the true government of the Chinese people. The communists under Mao set up the Peoples' Republic of China on the mainland. They weren't willing to risk going to war with US over Taiwan so they let it be. Tjhe US acknowledged the government of Taiwan as the true government for many years up until a few years ago. The US now acknowledges Communist China as the true government of China

Taiwan and South Korea were NOT under Communist rule as was Mainland China and North Korea. The United Sates was opposed to the spread of Communism and favored democracy. Thus, they supported Taiwan and South Korea.
