簡介

國際英語測試 (International English Language Testing System IELTS) 主要為計劃前赴澳洲或新西蘭等地升學之學生，以評審英語之能力，並作證明。此項測驗乃由University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (Cambridge ESOL)、IDP及英國文化協會協辦。

IELTS已為多個海外升學熱門國家所承認的英語評估考試，當中包括澳洲，加拿大，紐西蘭，英國及美國等。於2002年，大學教育資助委員會正式宣佈IELTS為香港大學生統一英語水平評核的標準。而於2003年，香港公務員事務局將IELTS等同於 Government's Common Recruitment Examination Part 1 的Use of English Paper之成績。


考試形式

考試主要分四部份，考試時間合共兩小時四十五分鐘：

‧ 聆聽理解 (30 分鐘)
‧ 閱讀理解 (60 分鐘)
‧ 寫作能力 (60 分鐘)
‧ 會話能力 (11-14 分鐘)

考試內容

‧ 申請人只可於學術類（Academic）或通用類（General Training）兩單元中，選擇其一
‧ 其中學術類考試適合有志升學英澳大專學位課程之人士
‧ 通用類考試則合以報讀中學或專科技術教育（TAFE）學院課程的人士而設
‧ 通用類考試亦較適合用於工作及申請移民之人士

考試及報名日期
如欲報考測試，請帶同一張證件相片往英國文化協會學生事務處；考試於每月的第一及第三個星期六進行。考試費為$1,500。

注意事項

．考生必須為16歲以上；
．考生可要求最多5份考試成績報告副本 (免費)；
．考試成績報告副本只會代發至學院、政府部門。專業團體或顧主，而非考生手上；
．需要更多副本的考生會被要求徵收額外費用；
．考生於考試後兩星期內收到考試成績報告；
．如急需考試成績，亦可申請快速改閱，但考生會被要求徵收額外HKD$250。

I think British Council, they have different class in different time to suit your study.
On the other hand, if you are a high level education student, your english should meet a basic level. You can take a try first, if you fail, then apply a course. The exam is not difficult.It seperates four parts:1-Listening-half hour-listen 4 para and answer the questions.2-Speed Reading-1 hour-read 4 long essay and answer the questions-true or false.3-Creative writing-2 writings-1 hour. Finally, Oral-about 20 minutes.

You can apply the exam through internet.www.ilets.org to find out your city and the exam center and download the application form. Then, fill it and send back with exam fee. You can choose the date to exam and they will try to suit your request.
