'John has a family of five' = 約翰有五個子女。

但 'Mary becomes a family of mother and sisters.'
這句話是甚麼意思呢 ?

請比較：
He was the only boy in a family of mother and two sisters.　= 他是在一個有媽媽及兩個姊妹的家庭中唯一的男孩子。

Mary becomes a family of mother and sisters.
但這裏用了 becomes，即是 Mary 的家庭有了變化（可能是爸爸死了或離開了，或者 Mary 從另一個地方來到這個新家庭，或者．．．），現在家中有 Mary 的媽媽及她的姊妹。
