(1) Fixed premium
(2) Increasing premium according to age
I think either one is OK as long as there is sufficient coverage and protection. In my case, I tried to calculate among the two and found that the total premiums paid were about the same. With certain assumptions, it may appear that #2 can result in a lower overall premium (e.g. it will depend on your age and more importantly the age of your daughter). However, my final decision is #1 since it gives me more certainty because the insurance plan guarantees my son to have hospitalisation protection up to the age of 65.
In my opinion, you need to pay attention to the following:
1. The duration of protection for your daughter (0 to 18 years or up to 65 years is definitely different)
2. The type of plan (I guess normally you'll need a B plan (among say A, B, C) but not the lowest plan.
3. Need to check your proposal carefully: whether the maximum amount claimed is per case or per contract year. There is a huge difference between the two. For example, if it is on a per contract year basis, and unfortunately your daughter needs to be admitted to hospital several times in a year, then the protection may usually be insufficient. A ' per case ' plan will surely be desirable in this aspect.
Also, you need to start early. I guess the cost of medical insurance will go up soon.
Hope the above helps.
