Hong Kong track has world's longest TV

A season of celebration began perfectly as The Hong Kong Jockey Club was granted a slot in the Guinness World Records for the fantastic new Diamond Vision screen at Sha Tin Racecourse, the world's longest television display.

Chairman of the Club Ronald Arculli and Chief Executive Lawrence Wong received an official certificate from Guinness World Records representative David Hawksett. Tamotsu Nomakuchi, President & CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, constructors of the huge screen, was also present.

The Diamond Vision display measures 70.4 meters (231 feet) long by 8 meters (26 feet) high and its installation was complete on August 15. The screen equates to 4,500 21" TVs piled up, and it is as wide as Boeing 747 jet is long. It weighs 266 tons, including the housing. It has very high resolution, produces clearer images, with a pixel pitch of 20 mm (about 3/4 inch), capable of up to 1 billion distinct colors, and the screen can be divided into six sections. Each pixel consists of four LED lamps, two red, and one each of green and blue.
