dont get a puppy from a pet store. yeah, their cute and cuddly but I've heard horror stories from the pet stores. first of all, they come from puppymills :( And most in the stores are really expensive and unhealthy. Check your local classifieds, they will have what you want im sure :)

and I dont want to sound like a broken record and an advocate for rescues but sometimes they have pupppies there as well!

GOOD LUCK IN WHATEVER YOU DECIDE :-D

Most puppies sold in pet stores come from "puppy factories". You should really consider adopting from an SPCA or Humane Shelter. You should own a pet only if you truly feel you are capable of taking on the responsibility (not because the puppy is cute!). If your heart is set on this puppy, ask your Mom and the owner of the pet store if you can all visit with the pup and discuss the responsibilities of being an animal owner. This will show that you are truly serious about this. Remember, animals require just as much, if not more, attention than humans. Are you ready to make this commitment? Another good rule to use is this: If you see something you want, don't buy it. Wait 2-3 weeks and if you still want it then consider buying it. If you do end up buying this dog, treat it with love and good luck.

first of all never get a dog from the pet store they come from puppy mills which are very bad places!!! and plus they are super expensive no matter how cute you think the puppy is go to a breeder which is more reliable and they will have cute ones too all puppies are cute!

just say u will buy it with ur own money and say that she doesn't need to take care of anything and u will do everything including buying food for it, cleaning the litter, and play with it.

I am in the same position as you. But I am going to say it clearly: you are not going to get it. My mom says I can take care of puppies or dogs in the neighborhood when their owners are on vacation.

Do some extra chores that really helps around the house or neighborhood for a while, WITHOUT her telling you to do it. Showing her that you are responsible enough to take some time to do the work could show her that you are responsible enough to own a dog.

That was me! I even asked a question on yahoo answers too! The best thing to do is to keep your room and whatever else very very neat. Then help out around the house. Also try paying with your own money. If you don't have an allowance ask your mom for one. Trust me your going to have to work to get that money! On your free time, research the kind of dog the dog you want and make sure that dog is a right fit for you and your family.

And you're going to have time to spend with the dog when? When your at school? At sporting events or other school activities? when you're at the beach with your friends over the summer? When you're at work? When you just want to "hang out"? My guess is that you mother would end up with the dog more often than you and although it seems like its not that big of a deal, it is....Sorry, wait until you've got the time.

Puppies cost money - not just to purchase - but to keep safe and healthy! I would do research and learn how much it costs to own a puppy in the first year - with vet visits/vaccinations/spaying/neutering/etc. Dogs are a huge responsibility and something that you have for a long time to come. Its nothing to just jump into. Do your research and show your parents how responsible you are.

Perhaps if you offer to help pay for the dog and promise to be the primary caregiver, you can win your mother over.

tell her you can do it your self. Or just go and buy it and come home and say you bought and an you can prvoe to her you can do it.
