Baidu is good... I remember having a hard time finding mp3s on Baidu recently, perhaps because of a copyright lawsuit they were involved in, but apparently they won.

So here is the top 100 Chinese songs on Baidu:

If you are familiar with Chinese and with bit torrent (which is illegal by the way. so I don't support it's use in any way), check
http://bt1.btchina.net/frankmp3/
http://bt.btchina.net/?categoryid=5
or search for "bt 音乐" without quotes on baidu.com

If you are interested in Chinese underground music... check out the Chinese bands listed in Myspace.. I have seen a few of them live, it's a completely different experience than the average Chinese pop...

Baidu.com if you know what you're searching for. They have the best search facility for Chinese MP3s. And since it's China, the files are all illegal and free (and Baidu is on good terms with the Chinese government)

Re IIDX Chem: Pop artists have enough money even with mass piracy out there. We're not talking about imagination here... they're not new-age Beethovens, just ditzy idols with lots of make up who can hold a tune, supported by corporations with salaried songwriters who can scribble out a tune...

Same goes for Microsoft software. Blah.

Movie piracy, however, is an entirely different matter. They really do need the money, you know (production companies, I mean, not the actors).

Artists need to eat too, freebies/ piracy kills imagination.

In response to Flo's comments. I agree MS Coperation is a hog at money raking. But its the company.
I am talking about artists that make their money selling their songs, composers in specific.

I am a freelance writier, and believe me when i say I will feel pissed when I see my work (if it ever happens) out on the streets without someone paying the due loyalities to me.

Its nice of you to wanna help someone to get audio files probably unobtainable to him/her. But I rather you would refer the person to pages like iTunes store to pay a mare sum for a song.

my 2.5 cents ^_^
Have a good day.
