Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ after his crucifixion. Easter is not as a highly regarded in Hong Kong compared to the Western countries, such as the United Kingdom.
A friend, who went to study in the UK, told me that Easter is deemed as a very important event. In my friend’s school, an Easter chapel service called Lent is served on every consecutive Tuesdays for four week. At the service, the Chaplin reads a passage from the Bible, reciting the story of Judas’ betrayal of Christ, the crucifixion of Christ and his resurrection. The school will then sing a hymn called “When I survey the wondrous cross”. It is apparently a very reflective service.
Easter eggs are also more popular in the UK; my friend told me that it is very common for family friends to give each other’s children Easter eggs. Some are of the size of a football. Easter is therefore very popular among children, as they are given plenty of chocolate!
Hope it helps~~^^
