What are the cheapest airlines and/or websites to search flights from?

Besides using Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity, Priceline or any other online travel websites, check out the websites of the airlines that actually fly out from LA to Chicago. If you don't know which airlines fly out from LA (not sure which airport you are departing from, LAX or BUR), go to the airport's website and it should tell you a list of airlines that operate at the airport.

Airline websites sometimes have better deals than Expedia,and etc.

Hotwire is the website that I use to find cheap plane tickets/hotels/etc. Delta and Southwest tends to be the cheaper airlines. Although, most airlines do have discount offers from time to time.

I've always done really well by adding the "best fare tracker" to my yahoo home page and adding whatever destinations I'm interested in. I just glance at it whenever I go to my yahoo home page and just watch for really good fares. Once you get a good rate check what airline it is and go to their site directly to check it and you can save another $5. I've never done any better than this using travelocity or or any of the other discount web sites. Plus it is so much easier and no matter where you buy it will still fluctuate daily so it helps you keep an eye on the best rate. Good luck!

Southwest Airlines is pretty cheap but at the same time you really do get what you pay for. Some sites you can look into for flights are: orbitz.com, expedia.com and my favorite priceline.com

It seems that nowadays you can go to the actual airlines website and get just as good rates but if you want to book stuff together I suggest: expedia.com, priceline.com, or orbitz.com
