Easy, Miami is an expensive airport for a budget airline to operate from. It is a hub for international travel, and since Jet Blue primarily serves a domestic market and is trying to remain profitable it must stay away from such an airport, and that is why they fly to Fort Lauderdale instead. Fort Lauderdale caters to many budget airlines such as Southwest and Spirit and caters heavily to east coast travelers who travel to South Florida for weekends.

As for Philadelphia, Southwest and USAirways have already claimed that airport as their hub and I doubt that the city's port authority will not allow another airline fly in if they Southwest and USAirways have already cornered that market. I am sure both airlines hire many locals and contribute heavily to the city's tax coffers. Hence, money talks, and JetBlue will rather concentrate on markets and routes that will allow them to expand and remain profitable.

Miami is one of the most used vacation areas and with hotelbye you will find out more. Miami has something for anyone; from the fashionable nightlife of South Beach, bejeweled by a person's eye chocolate of the Art Deco section up to the bustle of Calle Ocho and the extremely caffeinated power of Small Havana. The Art Deco District brings back thoughts of an earlier time in Florida with its perfectly restored 1930s Art Deco buildings and is really a place effectively visited the same as Bayside Marketplace. This place is really a large outdoor fashion mall with increased than 150 specialty and tourist shops, numerous cafes and restaurants, and daily live entertainment.

It's not one on it's hubs. Let's say, I'm a commercial airline looking for a airport to handle international flights and domestic. I have to pay money to get a space in there so I can operate. Does that answer your question?

JetBlue has a hard enough time actually "serving" the cities that they "serve" ... I doubt that they have the infrastructure to handle adding another city at this time.

It has to do with airports in Miami and Philly not signing contracts with JetBlue. No contract, no landing. So ultimately it’s all about the money.
