Chinese New Year is one of the most important Chinese festivals. People usually clean the house before Chinese New Year. Adults will buy new clothes for themselves and for the children. Adults give children red packets and hope the children will grow up happily and healthily. People will gather around to have the New Year Eve dinner. They will have a lot of good food that evening. After dinner, people will go to the Chinese Flower Market. They usually buy cherry blossom, tangerines and water lily. These are some festive flowers of the Chinese New Year. In the 2nd day of the Lunar New Year Calendar, there is fireworks at night. People will gather around the harbour front to watch the fireworks. Some people will visit their friends and relatives during Chinese New Year and they will play majong.

Unless the student participates actively in extra-school activities, there is little chance to meet other students with different backgrounds or specialisms.
