relative clause

樓上戈位講that 同when 既用法係岩, 但唔係同relative clause 有關.

when 係用唻代替一些時間上, 如年份, 日期.
例句:
I'll never forget the day when I met you.
或
Summer is the time of year when the weather is the hottest.

而 that, 基本上任何時候都可以用. 除了代替whose 之外.
即that 可以代替 who, whom, which, where, when 等,
例:
I'll never forget the day that I met you. (將上面句子既when 用that 代替)
或
Summer is the time of year that the weather is the hottest.

但我地學grammar 時, 老師一般都唔會叫你用that,
而用返相應既字來代替.
如who 用作人物(subject),
whom 用作人物(object),
which 用作死物
when 用作時間
whose 用作人物's 或死物's
where 用作地方
etc...

WHEN----1. (用作疑問副詞)什麼時候,何時
I'd like to know when they'll let him out.
我想知道他們什麼時候放他。
When did you last see Margaret?
你上一次見到瑪格麗特是什麼時候?
2. (用作關係副詞,引導關係子句)當...時
There were times when I didn't know what to do.
有些時候我不知道該怎麼辦才好。




THAT--------1. 那;那個,那人,那事,那東西
That's my English teacher over there.
那邊是我的英文老師。
2. (已被提到的)那個,那人,那事,那東西
Who told her that?
那是誰告訴她那件事的?
