What is gladiator?(not a film)

古羅馬帝國是一個奴隸制社會，羅馬奴隸一般是囚犯、蠻族、戰俘，一經成為奴隸，那就世世代代都是奴隸，他們想獲得自由只有三個方法：逃走、主人給予自由和在鬥技場勝出，成為Gladiator。
不是每個奴隸都能在鬥技場比賽，需要主人的准許，也有些人是專門"養"奴隸去比賽的，因為奴隸勝出的話，他們也會獲得相當的榮譽。
鬥技場並不是一定與人比賽的，很多時候都是和猛獸比賽，而且很多選手根本沒有像樣的武器，想要武器就要多勝幾場，讓主人買給你。比賽並不是點到即止的，是打到一方不能繼續作戰才停止的，輸掉的一方就趴在地上，看看觀眾的裁判，姆指向上就能活，姆指向下就會被砍下頭。
經過一輪的賽事後，勝出的就會被稱為Gladiator，得到無上的榮譽和自由，雖然很多都會成為傭兵...
