Farmer Fred has a water storage tank which is a circular cylinderr with a diameter of 6 feet and a height of a 10feet.It is lying on its side.
a) Find the volume of the tank.

b) The tank is half full of water so you could calculate its volume by dividing your answer for part (a) by 2, but you can also think of the water as part of a cylinder. What is the shape of the base of the half filled cylinder?

c) Compute the volume of the water using the base shape from part (b).

a) Volume of circular cylinder
= base area * height
=radius * radius* pi * height
= 3 * 3 * 3.14 * 10
=282.6 cubic feet

b) The shape of the base of the half filled cylinder is circle ( circular cylinder)

c) volume of water for half full cylinder:
= base area * height
=3 * 3 * 3.14 * 5
=141.3 cubic feet
