UC Davis is an excellent school for studying Nutrition. UCD is a very good school for agriculture, viticulture, food & nutrition, and animal science related majors. The campus is basically surrounded by farm lands so that's why they are very good at these things.

University of California, Davis is a first-tier tertiary institution in the US. It is one of the most popular campuses in the University of California system. US News ranking: National Universities, 47. Admission selectivity: more selective.

San Jose State University is possibly a second-tier (or lower) institution. It is one of the campuses in the California State University system. US News ranking: Universities - Master's (West), 41. Admission selectivity: less selective.

Hence, in terms of scale, funding, prestige, popularity, and competitiveness, UC Davis is a lot more superior than SJSU.

As for nutrition major, US News lists the following colleges in California among "American Best Colleges 2007":

California State Polytechnic University - Pomona
California State University - Los Angeles
Pepperdine University
Point Loma Nazarene University
San Diego State University
San Francisco State University
University of California - Davis

All in all, UC Davis is a much better choice than SJSU to study for Nutrition.
