我想問下在分點公式, the ratio which of the two points produced is 1:r ,
as a result , can I say that the ratio is equal to w:1 as r and w are unknown?
Furthermore , When u consider the question " P1(1,-4) and P2(4,2) and dividing a pont P(x,y), the internally in the ratio is 1:2 . Then put r=1/2 in the formula u get the coordinate of P is (2,-2) But can I put r=2 in the same formula ? why the outcome is different? can someone explain it?

You can, for 1:r, you need to put point 1 as the "left hand side" point and point 2 as the "right hand side" point into the formula, for w:1, you should put point 2 as the "left hand side" point and point 1 as the "right hand side" point instead; that's why you got different answer.
