1. In the figure, a ladder AB 2.6 m long is placed against a vertical wall, and the foot of the ladder is 1 m away from the wall. If the top of the ladder slides downwards by 0.4m, how far will the foot of the ladder slide? (Give your answer correct to 2 decimal places.)

2.62 = 2.22 + (1 + x)2
(1 + x)2 = 1.92
1 – x = 1.39m
所以
x = 0.39m
